After the residents of Manchester, Michigan were sold on voting to become a City for the groundswell of benefits, I’m still waiting to for council to announce all the new programs, infrastructure improvements and rewards the residents can expect.
From discussions I’ve had outside the community, those benefits may not be realized, or if realized less than promised. The deep Michigan pockets Manchester depended on tapping may be drying up.
In a recent Manchester Mirror article, residents were encouraged to vote down the proposal to eliminate Michigan Income Tax “because it would reduce the funds available to Manchester”.
There may be a positive side to voting for the tax reduction. It could cause Manchester council to re-evaluate their decisions and spending, thereby channeling resources more uniformly to projects bettering the community for all residents instead of the select few.
